Orthopedic Massage

Orthopedic Massage focuses on injury assessment and rehabilitation of soft tissue injuries to relieve pain. Its emphasis is on assessing the source of the pain and then determining appropriate treatment of the soft-tissue injuries in order to speed healing and provide relief from pain.

To achieve this, Ron will:

  • match the injury with the correct massage treatment techniques
  • combine it with providing patient education and exercises
  • relieve pain and speed the recovery and healing process
  • customize a Rehabilitation plan

A plan if treatment will be recommended including exercises or stretches and additional massage sessions, if needed.

Massage Treatment Techniques

Myofascial Release helps the body return to its original state as muscles begin to repair and cause less pain. Myofascial Release is a form of bodywork using long stretching strokes that seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia/connective tissue.

Deep Tissue Massage targets deep layers of muscle and tendon, helping to release chronic muscle pain. Deep Tissue massage is a technique that releases chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted areas, either following or going across the grains of muscles, tendons and fascia.

Swedish Massage increases blood circulation, encouraging faster muscle repair. Swedish massage is a system of long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial layers of the muscles, combined with active and passive movement of the joints.

Massage therapy can relieve neck and shoulder pain caused by:

  • Sitting at the desk working on a computer
  • Working on an assembly line
  • Repairing autos
  • Cutting and styling hair
  • Cleaning
